Just for the heck of it I re-clicked that box and of course the white comes back. So in the 'viennaxpstuff.xp' file there is a setting for [StartPanel.MenuItem]. Within that list are the menu animations that vStyler created. I temporarily removed the loop and mouseover settings and reloaded the theme and all was good even with the windows box checked. That will take you to System Properties - Go to the Advanced Tab and to 'Performance Settings' - This will show the 'Visual Effects' tab. The second item is 'fade or slide menus into view'. UNcheck that one should make you all good.
